Quality of Experience

Quality of Experience (QoE) is a critical measure of how users perceive and interact with telecommunications services. It goes beyond technical performance metrics to capture the real-world satisfaction of consumers when using voice, data and digital services.

The Telecom Value Chain is made up of several interconnected components, each playing a vital role in delivering services to the end-user. These components or building blocks collectively determine the quality of service and, ultimately, the user’s experience.

Interactive Telecom Value Chain

This interactive page will help you understand how Nigeria’s telecom networks work, the key components that keep you connected and what can go wrong.

Guide:

  • Click or hover over each component or site name to see its role in delivering your calls, messages and data.
  • Learn about common issues that can affect service quality, such as fibre cuts, power failures or equipment faults.
  • Click the link on each component to view related network performance indicators and reports.
  • Use the blue buttons by right to simulate outages and see how disruptions in one part of the network impact the rest of the system.

How Quality of Service is Affected:

Power Outages: If electricity fails at a tower or facility, users in that area lose service.

Vandalism: Damage to tower equipment cuts off connectivity for everyone using that tower.

Network Congestion: At busy times (like holidays), too many users can overload the network, slowing calls and data.

Weather Conditions: Heavy rain or storms can weaken signals and disrupt connections.
