The following are the events that happened in Quarter 4 2018.

  • NCC restates Commitment to Telecom Consumer Protection.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has once again re-emphasized its unflinching commitment to the protection of Telecom Consumers from wholesome practices by Service Providers.
  • NCC Organizes Workshop on Value Added Service Provision in Nigeria.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission has met with the Wireless Applications Service Providers Association of Nigeria (WASPAN) and other relevant stakeholders of the industry at its 2nd meeting of its 2018 Bi-annual Workshop Forum on 18 December 2018. The first event was held on September 4, 2018 at the same venue as the second, at BWC Hotel in V.I, Lagos.
  • NCC Hosts 86th Edition Of Telecom Consumer Parliament (TCP) in Abuja.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission hosted the 86th Edition of Telecom Consumer Parliament (TCP) on 13th December 2018 at Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre Abuja. Telecom Consumer Parliament is the Commissions high-level forum for face-to-face engagements with top stakeholders in the telecommunications industry.
  • NCC Engages Media Chiefs, Editors & Business Correspondents in an interactive Q&A session, in Abuja.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), organized a chat with one of its major stakeholders, the Media to reflect on 2018 and project the future at Ibeto Hotels, in Abuja on the 13th December, 2018. The Director of Public Affairs, Nnamdi Nwokike said "the chat with the press is an opportunity to discuss the activities of the NCC over the past one year as well as to thank the Media”.
  • NCC Hosts Stakeholders Parliament on “Optimizing the Benefits of Telecoms Infrastructure in Nigeria.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission hosts the fourth in series of NCC engagements with Senior State Government Officials on the Optimization of the benefits of telecoms infrastructure in Kano for the Northwest region.
  • Day 2 of the NCC's Roundtable with Academia, Industry and Other Stakeholders in the South South Region at the University of Benin, Edo State.

    The theme of the roundtable sessions: “Synergy with Academia, Industry and Regulator As Accelerator For Innovation, Industry Growth and Sustainability”.
  • The Breakfast Meeting hosted by The Nigerian Communications Commission with Media Chiefs, Editors & ICT Business Correspondents

  • NCC Holds Roundtable with Academia, Industry and Other Stakeholders Session, in Benin, Edo State December 12-13, 2018.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) kicked off its 2-Day Roundtable with Academia, Industry and Other Stakeholders in the South South Region at the University of Benin, Edo State. The theme of the roundtable session was: “Synergy with Academia, Industry and Regulator As Accelerator For Innovation, Industry Growth and Sustainability”.
  • NCC Partners with APCON at the 1st Nigerian Public Sector Brand Summit.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), collaborating with Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) at the 1st Nigerian Public Sector Branding Summit held in Abuja on 11th December 2018. Beluchi Nwanisobi , Assistant Director, Corporate Planning and Strategy represented the EVC/ CEO NCC at the event.
  • NCC holds Sensitization programme on Hazardous Effects of Non Type Approved Handsets.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission held a Stakeholders Sensitization Programme on hazardous effect of Non Type Approved Handsets on humans and, impact it poses on Quality of Service and e-waste. The event was hosted at the Emir’s Palace Hall, Suleja, Niger State on December 11, 2018.
  • Team Tech Vibes Win NCC Tennis League Cup

    Former national champion, Thomas Otu, rallied from a set down to win the fourth match that made Team Tech Vibes of Jos the fourth team to win the coveted NCC League Cup. Interestingly, no team has successfully defended the cup.
  • EVC At the International Institute of Communications Washington DC

    Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) participating as a panelist at a forum organised by the International Institute of Communications, which held recently at Washington DC, United States of America.
  • NCC Holds North Central Stakeholders Parliament with relevant agencies in charge of Telecommunications Matters.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission organized a North Central Nigeria Telecoms Stakeholders Parliament with relevant agencies in charge of telecommunications on 6th December 2018 at Lokoja, Kogi State.
  • NCC Tennis Grand Finale

  • NCC Hosts 101th Edition of Consumer Outreach Programme in Gombe.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) held the 101th edition of Consumer Outreach programme at Emerald Royal Hill Hotel, in Gombe,Gombe State, 6th December 2018. The thematic focus was : ‘Using Information and Education as Tools for Consumer Empowerment and Protection”, in line with a cardinal objective of the NCC of ensuring consumers empowerment through provision of necessary information and education to telecommunications services.
  • Day 2 of the National Social Media Retreat for Good Governance, organized by the Federal Ministry of Communications at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Kado, Abuja

  • The Nigerian Communications Commission recently held the second leg of the NCC Tennis Cup semi finals in Enugu State. Team TechVibe won the game over Team Leadway by 4-3.

  • NCC partakes in National Social Media Retreat.

    The Federal Ministry of Communications organizes a National Social Media Retreat , with a theme “ Social Media for Good Governance”. The retreat is expected to sensitize stakeholders on the importance of social media in government activities, providing opportunity to get fresh inputs & feedback from the sector’s stakeholders with a view to incorporating their inputs into a National Social Media guide as well as reviewing best practices on policies & programmes which promote social media for good governance.
  • NCC Holds Stakeholders Consultative Forum on 5G Readiness, in Abuja.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), organized a Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Emerging Technology to discuss 5g Readiness and High Altitude Platforms Stations (HAPS) Development at the Barcelona Hotel, in Abuja on December, 2018. Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, NCC, who was represented by Engr. Austin Nwaulune, Director Spectrum Administration, noted that the NCC in its preparation to welcome the 5g Network Technology and its accompanying technologies has began putting in place the necessary infrastructure and interacting with relevant stakeholders and, had identified some of the potential frequency bands that may be harmonised for 5G deployment in region 1.

  • NCC holds 44th Edition of the Consumer Town Hall Meeting in Oguta, Imo State

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) held the 44th edition of its Consumer Town Hall Meeting in Oguta, Imo state on the 29th of November 2018.
  • NCC Collaborates with GSMA on Future of Industry Workshop - Driving Innovation and Growth.

    In Consonance with the Commission’s 3rd and 5th item of the 8-point which focuses on Optimizing Usage and benefits of Spectrum and Facilitating Strategic Collaboration and partnership, the Nigerian Communications Communication on November 29, 2018 held a workshop in the Commission’s headquarters to discuss how to foster innovation and growth in the Telecommunications Industry in the face of emerging and disruptive technologies.
  • NCC Holds South-South Stakeholders Parliament with Relevant Agencies in Charge of Telecommunications Matters.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) holds South-South Stakeholders Parliament with Relevant Agencies in Charge of Telecommunications Matters on 29th November 2018, at Protea Hotel, Benin City, Edo State. The Theme of the event is “ Optimizing The Benefits of Telecoms Infrastructure in Nigeria”
  • NCC holds Roundtable Interaction with Academia, Industry and other Stakeholders in Enugu.

    The third tier of the Nigerian Communications Commission’s ‘Roundtable Forum with Academia, Telecom Industry and other Stakeholders holds at University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State on the 28th and 29th November 2018. The forum is expected to improve collaboration among the Commission, academia, telecom industry players and other stakeholders to accelerate innovation, industrial growth and sustainable development in the Nigerian telecoms industry.
  • NCC Hosts Fourth Quarter (Q4) ICAF in Lagos.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission hosted the 4th quarter of Industry Consumer Advisory Forum (ICAF) at Ibis Hotel, No. 23 Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos on November 27, 2018, with a thematic focus on: “Progressing from Customer Service to Customer Experience- The Consumers’ Point of View.”
  • Submission of The Experts Group Draft Report on The Development of Appropriate Blueprint/ Curriculum for ICT Innovation Research Programmes in Nigeria to The Board & Management of the NCC.

    On July 17, 2018, the Board & Management of the Nigerian Communications Commission inaugurated a panel Committee of Experts group to develop an appropriate blueprint for ICT Innovation/ Research Programmes in Nigeria.
  • NCC’s Consumer Town Hall Meeting holds in Owo, Ondo State

    Consumer Town Hall Meeting organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) held at Maryam Ademarayola Event Centre, Okedogbon Street, Owo, Ondo State, on 22nd November, 2018.
  • NCC Engages Stakeholders on Broadband Deployment in Southern Zone of Nigeria.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Holds Broadband Engagement Forum for South Zone Nigeria in Lagos on the 22nd of November 2018. The Forum, is another initiative of the Nigerian Communications Commission to engage state level stakeholders as regards the facilitation and provision of broadband penetration in Nigeria and also discuss the many challenges impeding the deployment of telecoms infrastructure such as Right of Way, Multiple Taxation and Multiple Regulation and delays in obtaining site acquisition permits.
  • NCC Holds its South West Stakeholders Parliament with Relevant Agencies in Charge of Telecom Matters in Ibadan, Oyo State

  • Consumer Townhall Meeting organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is holding at Maryam Ademarayola Event Centre, Okedogbon Street Owo, Ondo State.

  • NCC Holds 2nd Type Approval Industry Working Group Meeting in Lagos.

    As part of the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC’s) mandate provided for by the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 (NCA 2003) to ensure type approval of telecoms equipment, safety of users and acceptable Quality of Service, the NCC held its 2nd Type Approval Industry Working Group Meeting on November 15th, 2018 in Lagos.
  • Annual Stakeholders Consultative Forum On Selected Licence Categories

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), recently held its Annual Stakeholders Consultative Forum On Selected Licence Categories at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Lagos.
  • The 6th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communications Technology (NCCT)

    The 6th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communications Technology was held at the Cultural Center, Kuto Abeokuta, Ogun State, from the 19th to 24th of November, 2018.
  • Porting Access Netherlands and Interconnect Nigeria Pay Courtesy Visit to NCC

    The Directors of Porting Access, the Mobile Number Portability equipment suppliers and Interconnect Clearing House Nigeria Limited paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission on 19th November 2018. The visit was for the directors of Porting Access, the new provider for decentralised database for number portability in Nigeria to meet with NCC officials to get introduced and discuss the improvement of number porting services for telecom consumers in Nigeria. Interconnect and Porting Access are partners in maintaining the database for number porting services for Nigeria.
  • MTN Organizes ICT and Business Skills Training (Phase II) in Kano State.

    The Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) Nigeria organized ICT and Business Skills Training (Phase II), an intervention by MTN foundation for youth empowerment in partnership with Digital Bridge Institute, Google and Microsoft targeting the training of 500 youths in ICT and Business Skills acquisition in Kano State.
  • Nigerian delegates at the closing ceremony of the ITU-Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

  • NCC Holds its 100th Edition of Consumer Outreach Programme in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

    As part of the Nigerian Communication Commission’s efforts to empower telecom consumers with adequate information and education through constant engagement of consumers, the 100th Edition of Consumer Outreach Programme was organized at the Sejeet civil center, along Osogbo road, Oke Owode, Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
  • NCC holds Roundtable Interaction with Academia, Industry and other Stakeholders in Lagos.

    The second tier of the Nigerian Communications Commission’s ‘Roundtable Forum with Academia, Telecom Industry and other Stakeholders holds at Tayo Adenirokun Hall, University of Lagos on 14th and 15th November 2018. The first engagement which was the opening ceremony held at Bayero University Kano, in Kano on 24th and 25th October 2018, in the northwest region of the country.
  • The Nigerian Communications Commission at the 5th Nigerian Group Meeting at the International Telecommunications Union Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-18) holding in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

  • NCC Receives Award for 'Consumer Satisfaction Guarantee Agency of Government'.

    The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) received the award for Consumer Satisfaction Guarantee Agency of Government, an award organized by the Nigeria Assembly Public Orientation And Awards Ceremony (NASS Award 2018) on Saturday, 10th November 2018 at the Merit House, Abuja.
  • Nigeria, 12 other Countries get ITU Membership Seats.

    Nigeria and 12 other African countries have been elected into the membership of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Council and, Radio Regulations Board.
