In less than 48 hours after being inducted into the prestigious Nigeria Academy of Engineering (NAE), the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science during the 29th and 30th Joint Convocation Ceremony of the University of Jos, Plateau State.

Prof. Seddi Sebastian Maimako, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) distinguished Prof. Danbatta as an Executive and Professor whose agency has been a hub for national communications and has tremendously contributed to the Nigerian Academia by supporting and funding research and projects that have viable impacts to Nigeria’s development.

Prof. Danbatta who thanked the Vice Chancellor for Honoring his efforts at developing the Telecommunications sector and supporting the Academia, spoke on the importance of supporting the Nigerian Academia and students, as various solutions to Nigeria’s challenges are within grasp if the necessary provisions are allocated to education and learning Institutions.

Prof. Danbatta also thanked members of his family and staff of the NCC for supporting him in his work.
