The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Otunba Olabiyi Durojaiye and Commissioner Senator Ifeanyi  Araraume, yesterday paid a visit to the Lagos Zonal Office of the Commission to acquaint themselves with the operations of the Lagos outpost of the NCC.

The Commissioners listened to a presentation about all aspects of the responsibilities and activities of the Zonal Office and also inspected the new NCC Building in Lagos under construction as well as the Digital Bridge Institute, DBI, a training institution set up by the NCC in 2004 to address the skills deficit that might undermine the operations of the emergent telecommunication sector.

Very strong business organizational structure, policies and practices that facilitate effective and efficient service delivery were some of the high points, the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) considered before naming the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) tops in institutional work processes in the country.

Director General of BPSR, Dr. Joe Abah presented the report and plaque to the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, at the NCC Headquarters in Abuja, yesterday.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on March 15, 2017 launched the "Year of Telecom Consumer" campaign programme designed to give concrete expression to the centrality of the consumer in the telecom ecosystem. Deriving life from items 2 and 6 of the NCC Management's 8-point Agenda launched February 27 2016, the declaration of year 2017 as YEAR OF TELECOM CONSUMER is meant to focus on the needs and satisfaction of the Nigerian telecom consumer.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) organised a reception/presentation of its new Board of Commissioners to the Nigerian telecommunications industry. The three new Non-Executive Members of the Board of Commissioners and one Executive Commissioner were nominated by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on August 2, 2016 and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on November 17, 2016.

A few hours after Tony Ojobo, NCC's Director of Public Affairs, received the GRANDIX International Award for Excellence and National Development for 2016, the EVC/CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta last night received on behalf of the Commission, THE BEST GOVERNMENT AGENCY IN NIGERIA AWARD from the LEADERSHIP Newspaper.

The award ceremony, so evidently oversubscribed by the sheer number of dignitaries and other attendees present at the event, held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
