The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has stated that it is irrevocably committed to strategic partnering and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the country to deepen digital transformation of the economy.

Shuaibu Swade, Controller of NCC Zonal Office in Kano affirmed this yesterday when he received a delegation from the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) which came on a courtesy visit to the Zonal Office.

The CITAD delegation led by Maryam Ado Haruna, CITAD's Project Officer for Gender and Internet Advocacy, told Swade and his colleagues that CITAD is committed to the promotion of digital inclusion for women in Northern Nigeria and the country at large, and her visit was to explore areas of collaboration with NCC towards achieving the objective.

Swade reassured that once a concrete proposal is received from CITAD, it will be forwarded to the Management of the Commission for consideration and action. He said the Management of the Commission is always enthusiastic about forging alliances in spheres connected to its mandate to drive policy implementation and action. "The importance attached to stakeholder collaboration and management by the Commission finds expression in it being a central item on the 8-Point Agenda and the Zonal Office already got a matching order to relate with stakeholders in this regard". Swade told the visitors.

Swade also stated that NCC has proceeded to demonstrate its commitment to digital inclusion through the School Support Programme by which it facilitated the building of ICT infrastructure, facilities and supply of equipment at different levels of the education sector in Nigeria, and within communities where the NCC and its companion department - the Universal Service Provision Fund - have been facilitating availability, accessibility and affordability of resources of digital transformation.
