The fourth ITU Public & Private Sectors
Partnership Forum for Africa Region (PPPF-Africa 2005) and the
Regional Working Party on private sector issues (RWP) will hold in
Abuja at the Nicon Hilton from 1 to 3 July 2005.
The Regional Working Party will organize its
work around four main areas of concern as identified in the Kampala
Action Plan:
ICT infrastructure investment and resource mobilization issues.
Regulatory issues.
NEPAD issues.
Human Resource and Capacity building issues.
Towards this end, key presentations and papers
will be made in each area by leading private and public sector
organizations at the workshop. These topics will be relevant to the
development requirements and priorities of the countries of every
region. Panels of discussants made up of country representatives
will arrive at contributions and resolutions to be presented to the
African Regional Preparatory Meeting (ARPM) for inclusion in the
agenda for the World Telecommunications Development Conference in
Doha, Qatar in 2006.
The expanded PPPF Workshop will attract
delegates from the private and public sectors of the 52 member
African Telecommunications Union (ATU), and will also include banks
and other financial institutions, telecommunications operators,
consultancy companies, regulatory administrations etc.
This workshop is expected to achieve greater
regional coordination to facilitate a coordinated approach and to
engage members in the WTDC process as early as possible.

MULTI-STAKEHOLDERS’ WORKSHOP
The Africa Regional Preparatory Meeting (ARPM),
will for the first time, hold a multi-stakeholders’ meeting
combining delegates from Youth, Women, Civil Society and
Public-Private Partnerships workshops.
The combined meeting will consider
contributions from all the workshops, and build a Final Contribution
Document to be presented to the RPM by Nigeria.
The multi-stakeholders’ workshop will hold on 3rd
July 2005 at the Yar’ Adua Centre, Abuja. |
